Dawn is an award-winning journalist who spent 17 years in television news, writing and reporting on everything from the 9/11 terror attacks to “Back to the Future” day – complete with a DeLorean.
Her love of telling stories came on a cold day in Borger, TX when she was watching TV at her grandmother’s house after a day spent coloring in kindergarten. She looked up and saw a spaceship explode. The Challenger was no longer. At six years-old, she wanted to know what happened and why.
That curiosity led her to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, where she earned a degree in Mass Communications. She’s shared the news as a producer in Wichita Falls, Amarillo, Waco, Harrisburg, PA and Dallas-Fort Worth.
She’s earned two Lone Star Emmy Awards for Best Morning Newscast while at NBC in Dallas-Fort Worth.
After leaving traditional news, she’s now telling her story. This blog is a reflection of what life is like for a woman starting a second chapter in life.
